DUBAI: Two new airlines are set to commence operations between the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Pakistan within the next two to three months, expanding connectivity between the two nations.

Pakistan’s Ambassador to the UAE, Faisal Niaz Tirmizi, confirmed the agreement, stating that Pakistan’s AirSial will introduce flights from three Pakistani cities to Abu Dhabi, while Wizz Air will operate flights between Abu Dhabi and two Pakistani cities.

“This agreement goes beyond just increasing flights,” Tirmizi said. “It strengthens trade, commerce, and cultural ties between our two nations.”

Wizz Air CEO meets top envoy

On Monday, Ambassador Tirmizi met with Johan Eidhagen, CEO of Wizz Air Abu Dhabi, and Hiba Khalil, Head of Government Affairs & Aviation, at the Pakistan Embassy in Abu Dhabi. The meeting focused on enhancing air connectivity and fostering aviation sector cooperation.

This expansion brings the total number of airlines operating on the UAE-Pakistan route to ten, including major carriers such as Emirates, Etihad Airways, flydubai, PIA, and Air Arabia. Currently, multiple daily flights connect key cities, catering to the large Pakistani expatriate population and growing trade ties.

The development coincides with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s upcoming visit to the UAE for the World Government Summit, where discussions on trade, investment, and employment opportunities are expected to further reinforce bilateral relations.
